Long story, medium-ish--it's been almost six years since my debut album release, and over three years since I dropped B.E. Okay. Yes, I'm still working on "2AB4TL" (my next full-length album), but having gone through the process already I know how much that's going to require. (Spoiler alert: I'll be raising funds for that project too!)
The music creation process is a LOT OF WORK, and honestly, I'm going to have to gear up for the heavy lifting. But it's also my passion, so I'm up for the challenge...
I've had Keep On Looking Up on my heart for months now, and figured doing one song (for now) would be a great way to get back into recording and releasing music. Not to mention, I'm excited about the potential community partnership/charitable aspect of creating this song. And the thought of being able to connect with the youth with this song in the year of Hip-Hop's 50th Anniversary is awesome! I take pride that my music can be enjoyed by folks from 8 to 80.
I hope that helps explain why there isn't a long, drawn-out process for this campaign and why the only "perk" is a t-shirt. (Although you should also get some warm and fuzzies knowing that this is for the kids!) I'm going to take a cue from how most kids approach life - and just keep this campaign simple. I hope you'll join me!
